Original art glass Cufflinks
unique kiln formed glass designs for Edward Stripe by Australian artist LISA CAHILL
Lisa Cahill is an internationally recognised artist whose kiln-formed glass panels evince her painterly approach to the medium. Working with sheet glass, powder, frits and glass threads (stringers) she assembles her abstract compositions in layers, over many firings, and incorporates unpredictable random effects from the firing.
These Silver Leaf Tear Glass cufflinks are kiln-formed glass with silver leaf. As the glass gradually heats, it tears the silver leaf randomly which makes every cufflink unique. Lisa's Squared-off Series of kiln-formed glass cufflinks are inspired by architecture, in particular the suggestion of windows and building frames. The type and concentration of colouring agents used causes the glass to cool to a beautiful opaque and translucent finish.
After fusing, each glass piece is annealed. This process of slow controlled cooling relieves the internal stresses after it was formed and is critical to its durability. Lisa then carefully hand polishes the glass and fixes it on to metal findings. The adhesives used are very strong and guaranteed for 2 years; if they come apart they are repaired or replaced free of charge.
These beautiful art glass original cufflinks by Lisa Cahill are produced for Edward Stripe and presented to you in a black magnetic flip-top gift box.
