Men’s fashion this summer continues the trends that emerged during spring. Classic styles, quality rather than quantity, versatility and the ability to co-ordinate across your business, casual and party wear will maximise your return on investment from your wardrobe.

The distinct nautical theme continues through designer ranges with comfortable light weight, quality cotton fabrics in classic stripes & textures in blue/white/brown combo’s for business wear. For hotter regions look at shirts with contrast white collars as these look great with or without a tie. All team perfectly with silk ties in classic or slim widths & cufflinks add some sparkle. For casual, remove or wear the tie half-mast with chinos or well-cut denim jeans. And for high summer’s hottest months include some soft wide neck tees/singlets and medium length shorts – don’t forget the captain’s hat and cool shades.

Footwear should always be comfortable. Every wardrobe needs one or two pairs of quality black or tan leather shoes in classic designs. Wear with matching belts & dark coloured socks - they’ll take you anywhere. Deck shoes and leather sandals are all good worn with rolled up chinos, but definitely no socks.

For partying, you’ll stay fashion forward in floral and paisley prints with the ongoing retro 50’s and 60’s revival - and every party includes a few preppy men with dark rimmed glasses.

For hair, as long as it’s well styled and groomed, if you’ve got it, flaunt it. Whether your reflection in the mirror is retro mod, teddy boy, clipper buzz cut or a longer shaggy style (but NO mullets) it’s all good with a clean shaven or short clipped stubble beard look.

Enjoy the party season, have a happy new year, and we’ll see you in 2011!
