Paul Mason is passionate about glass. He works with a number of different glass applications in his private studio including lead-lighting, kiln work & lamp work. His main focus is creating stunning pieces of original glass jewellery using ancient lamp-work and fused glass techniques.
Lampworking involves the process of melting the glass in a flame and applying it to a steel rod or mandrel, where it is wound with skillful techniques to produce a seemingly endless number of designs. Each lamp-worked glass bead is a unique work of art, fixed onto high quality metal findings, and can give a lifetime of enjoyment and wearing pleasure.
Paul's enthusiasm for exploration and his desire to experiment using the most sought after 'Effetre/Moretti' and 'Vetrofond' glass from Italy is grounded in strong design and precise technical application. The result is work with a fresh, innovative and contemporary feel through the unique use of colour, light and texture.
